Today is another rainy day I am super tired, nothing new there. Getting things organized top to bottom as much as I can with an almost 2 year old. I am in my living room I get up to get something from the kitchen which is a few feet away.... I get to my pantry and I have no idea what I went there for. Ok this is mommy fog.
Mommy fog: The feeling of permanent fuzz. Usually affects mothers of children under 3. Very short attention span.
Cure: A few weeks of sleeping on a beach with a hot waiter bringing you daiquiris, margaritas or alcoholic or tropical drink of choice.
Temporary Cure: a full pot of coffee, a splash on the face with cold water. This solution will last about 20 minutes. Then you are up shits creek.
However...This morning has been beautiful my heart melted as Michael was playing with his foam blocks and made me a "flower" and brought it to me and said mommy flower. This makes all the mommy fog worth it. Would not trade my mommy fog for anything. The moment was worth the world to me. Hope you are having a great day out there!
This is my dumping ground where I will drop my thoughts on everything and anything. You can come here to find just about anything from being a sahm to a working from home mom to politics, fashion, and loads about my daily life. Hope you have fun.

Michael's bday
We are having a party for Michael on the 25th but I had to get him at least a little cake for today. His special day.
Its My BDAY!
Today was Michael's 2nd bday can't believe my little one is 2 years old!! Today was his official bday and we spent it the three of us. Next Saturday will be his bday party. I was happy to have had a nice day the three of us together. It was so much fun. He did however skip his nap AGAIN! this is starting to become a habit. Oh dear....
Anyhow, being that his construction tractor thingy won't arrive for a few months we had a "filler gift" which was a nice little Thomas bike and a pick what you want trip to toys r us. He also got some lovely gifts from family and friends in England and Australia.
We sang Michael happy bday when he woke and had him blow out a candle to a bob the builder cake (since his tractor was not in stock) then had him open gifts. We went out for breakfast then to toys r us. Then we went swimming boy did Michael love and have fun swimming. He just wants to go off, which is great but at the same time scary. Then we came home and more play and eat etc. Its Michael's bday but it might as well be mine and Martin's as he gives us so much joy. Its been such a fun day to share with him. One for the memory bank. Now to his bday party yeah!

Birthday party

Michael's 2nd bday party! I love to see him be happy. Wow so I have been awful at keeping up with this blog, so this draft which I started in April is now being finished in September yikes sorry. Let's say I was on sabbatical from my blog, twitter and FB totally engrossed me. Anyhow thinking back to my little munchkins birthday party it was great, some wonderful friends that we have made here in Wisconsin and none other than BARNEY, I went high and low to get Barney but in the end he got here. The look on Michael's face when he opened the door to Barney was priceless. The party was great. Michael had a blast and we had wonderful friends join us to celebrate. A special thank you to "Barney"

A day in the life
Ok so a little about me I am a working mom sahm lol if that makes sense(right now all my work thank goodness is done at home). Prior to becoming a mom I was a self employed Project manager I mostly worked with TV media clients. My last project was with Channel 4 on their Video on Demand Project. Very cool. Loads of fun as you know tv is fun. Well more about that maybe some other day so basically I have been focused on my son most of the time with just maintenance type of work on my company things like company reports and accounting and taxes that are due every year with a company (so don't be impressed the last two years I have been mostly a SAHM). Now I can finally say I am getting back into the swing of things Michael is getting bigger and I won't say he does not require the attention however its more predictable attention (if that makes sense) he takes nice long naps and goes to bed at the same time everyday.
Soo a day in the life for me the past few months have been wake up oh actually no that is get dragged out of bed by Michael my almost 2 year old son lol.
"Mommy, mommy!!" yes Michael yes sweety Mommy Mommy up up, sweety daddy needs to get up wake him up... NO Mommy Mommy Ok so I have been awake 30 seconds and I have already heard mommy at least almost 10 times. I rush to do the bed in about 30 seconds I feel if I can at least get my bed done I am ahead of the game. I negotiate getting my teeth done and getting to the toilet. This kid is a tough one luckily I had practice when I worked. No doubt Michael is my toughest client. Business world piece of cake mommy world WHOA.
Ok so we brush teeth, change diapers, make our way downstairs.. Serve Michael cereal or porridge, daddy is still here hmm run to the shower and hope that I have at least 5 minutes whilst daddy is still here. Oh how lovely a nice hot shower starting to relax and enjoy the shower 3 minutes in .... I hear mommy mommy mommy oh crap ok i rush and shampoo soap etc wash my face ... barley dry myself get dressed as I shoot down the stairs. What is the matter Michael mommy is right here. Ok Daddy kisses us bye bye. Michael says daddy work. I am sure he does not know what that means but he knows that when daddy leaves in the morning and is not home daddy is at work. So there our day begins, we play for about 20 minutes, hmm ok what educational program can I put on so I can try to clean up the breakfast dishes etc hmmm ok the Wiggles oh no no hate those dudes, hmm ok little einsteins no uh sesame street wait let me see what sesame street is covering as last time i watched it with him a dog was humping a lady and she announced he was frisky yes on Sesame street, ok Michael what do you want to see Little Einsteins? Dora? Barney? Clap clap clap ok I guess its Little Einsteins then... Ok how long is this ok have 25 minutes to clear breakfast mess, check email, update facebook, view calendar and make some quick calls and plan my day out. 20 minutes in ok let me call my friend, hi what are you up to today, no sooner do i say hello i hear mommy mommy mommy, and if that is not enough he starts climbing all over me. Ok I best get off the phone dear friend. Ok sorry Michael did you feel I was not giving you enough attention, sorry mommy has some nerve taking 25 mintues. Ok lets do some coloring, so we move onto an activity I try to do something fun and educational we do puzzles and coloring together and I tell him what we are going to do for the day. Its really cute you can actually follow a conversation with him. Ok its 8:30 am now so dishes are in dish washer, i have showered, we have played I have answered a few emails, facebooked. Reviewed and edit a franchise document fro my brother, sorted out my calendar for the day and do a mental planning note on how the day should flow. Get Michael dressed and ready to go to playdate, or Wiggles class or some other morning activity. Morning activity until 11am ish. Go to the supermarket/ or shop real quick, get lunch sorted. Clean up Michael answer some emails. Clean up a little, clean the floor for the 4th time and its only 12 now, and I have cleaned the floor 4 times. By now lunch is done, cleaned up a bit, get Michael's milk and take him on his nap ride. This is anytime between 1-2, Put Michael down to sleep. Have conference call regarding upcoming business launch, make all business calls that I can't do whilst Michael is awake. Call contractors for concrete and landscaping. Sometimes also get dinner ready as I make calls so I just have to put in oven later. 2 1/2 to 3 hours later Michael is awake, give him a snack, change him and go do errands post office Target the best place to get all your needs in one location, bank, any errands whatsoever back home by 5 get dinner on. Play with Michael do some kind of creative craft. Then we have dinner with daddy play a little get him ready to have a bath, read to him put him to sleep. OOps so tired fell asleep with him, its 9PM. I turn on any program i have recorded and just fast forward to the interesting bits. I work on edits and updates for my website for my consulting business, do some research for my business plan for the upcoming children's business. 12:30 am hmm ok tired. Going to sleep. ....oh no wait i need to check my mommy boards add activities post etc. 1 am ok now i am going down.

cooking Yay
I have always wanted to be a good cook. I dont' think I will ever be a GOOD COOK but I do try. I really enjoy it. Cooking and cleaning very therapeutic, hahaha if my friends could hear me now. I went out on a girls night out and I had sooo much fun, and came home to find my son for the first time in almost 2 years Sleeping sleeping sleeping whoa now that is a miracle. Good old daddy. A little history... Michael my son love of my life oxygen that I breathe, since he was born would fall asleep in my arms and no one else's he just would not, he would require rocking from mommy up until he was exactly once he turned 1 and that week no more rocking. However for naps he required the all famous nap ride. Everyday I have to throw Michael in the car and if even for 1 block he has to have the nap ride ARGH. I do feel somehow that is going to change soon. He actually fell asleep in his chair the other day. At night however weirdly enough and thankfully he falls asleep in his bed but.. and there is a but... or rather let's call it a butt because pain in the butt it bloody is. He falls asleep in his bed but he has to be playing with my hair or rather pulling my hair, and then he falls asleep. Now mommies who are about to have your first I will tell you what I get told all the time, don't rock him, don't take him out in the car to fall asleep just put your baby down. Ok so you know I had to tell you this, will I practice it no of course not, I yearned for this little tyke for years and if for just a few little years I have to do these crazy things like hang off the bed with my hair being pulled then so be it. Soon enough he will be pushing me away because he does not want his friends to see him with his mommy, and I am going to yearn for that hair yanking desperately. As it is he already picks his playmates over me, except when I threaten to leave hahahah. Just testing. Ok so this started about cooking right well I went out on a girl's night out and had this awesome chicken marsala and thought hmm I wish I could make this and sure enough I searched the trusty internet and found the recipe and if I say so myself it was rather tasty. Here is the recipe:

yum yum yum hubby loved it. He deserved a nice meal.
I went to my friend's charity party a couple of weeks ago and there was a pampered chef rep there who made the awesomest amaretto strawberry puffs well i got lucky and found the recipe on the internet! I made them minus a key ingredient the amaretto lol, however I gave some to my friend Cheryl and as a true friend she told me they were good ;)
Here is the recipe don't forget the amaretto!
The Pampered Chef ®Strawberry Amaretto PastriesRecipe1/2 package (17.3 ounces) frozen puff pastry sheets (1 sheet), thawed1/2 cup sliced almonds, divided2 tablespoons granulated sugar, divided1 orange1 container (8 ounces) sour cream1/2 cup powdered sugar1/4 teaspoon almond extract1 1/2 cups thawed, frozen whipped topping12 large strawberries, sliced1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Unfold pastry dough onto Large Round Stone. Coarsely grate half of the almonds using Deluxe Cheese Grater. Combine grated almonds and half of the sugar; sprinkle evenly over surface of dough. Lightly press almond mixture into dough using Baker's Roller®.2. Using Pizza Cutter, cut dough lengthwise into three strips; cut strips crosswise into four squares for a total of 12 squares. Using Mini-Serving Spatula, separate squares evenly over surface of baking stone. Bake 16-18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove from baking stone; cool completely.3. Place remaining almonds in Small Oval Baker. Microwave on HIGH 2-3 minutes or until lightly toasted, stirring after each 30-second interval; coarsely chop using Food Chopper and set aside. Zest entire orange using Lemon Zester/Scorer. Combine zest and remaining 1 tablespoon sugar; set aside.4. Whisk sour cream, powdered sugar and almond extract in Classic Batter Bowl using Stainless Whisk. Fold in whipped topping using Small Mix 'N Scraper®. Slice strawberries using Egg Slicer Plus®. Split open each pastry square; arrange half of the strawberries into bottom of each shell. Top each with about 2 heaping tablespoons of the filling and sprinkle with chopped almonds. Top with remaining sliced strawberries and sprinkle with sugared orange zest. Place tops of pastry shells over filling. Serve immediately
So good cook probably not but a good imitation is close enough ;)
